little update...ok, maybe more than a little....
things have been pretty good. i hadn't updated because i had a finger injury. i have no idea what happened but my left ring finger was basically immobile and painful. it was fine after we taped it to the other finger for a day. it's a good thing i took the advice of the nurse i called.
saturday we went to Great America. a few friends got together and it was a fun time. i only got humiliated (well, not badly but still) on one ride "The Grizzly". the guy that was walking by checking on seat belts/harnasses and things was a jerk. I knew that I needed to put on the seatbelt. i'm not an idiot. i was just having a problem trying to get it untangled but he wasn't having it. so i told chris to move and let me off. i wasn't going to stand for it. i complained to a supervisor. i normally don't complain but it was just plain rude. the other ride i couldn't get on was "Delerium". i knew i might have a problem because of my aerodynamically curvaliciousness. the last time i tried to get on i was about 50 pounds heavier so i thought i might just be able to. the guy at that ride was very nice about it though. it was fine that i didn't fit. it was just good to know that i was almost there. it's because of how they designed the harness system. we have season passes so i'm sure we will be going more often. i can just get on all the rides i know i fit on and have a great time. maybe next time we go i'll go to their water park. we'll see.
i've started working on a website for a friend. i'm helping do a few things. i am commenting out dead links, redirecting links that have been moved, spell checking things, deconstructing a glossary into more manageable parts and doing some php work. it is actually a lot of fun. i'm getting to learn things which is great. i'd like to learn more PHP so i'm wondering if i should pick up a book about it.
i believe i mentioned winning a $10 amazon e-cert. well since the last update i have received 2 other certs. one for $10 for a diabetes survey and a $50 one from the same contest i won the $10 from. now i just need to figure out what to get. i also found out that i was approved to start taking more diabetes related surveys. which is awesome. it's always good to hear about new options with diabetes treatments and things.
i've been thinking a lot about learning to do alterations. i have 2 skirts that i love that are a little big now. it is kind of hard to figure out. my jean skirt is on its way to not being held up by my hips anymore. *giggle* i think taking it in an inch or so will help. i don't know what type of book/tutorial to look at. i know that there is a local quilting place that may have sewing classes. i just need to figure out the cost of it.
well, that is all for now. hope you all are great. *huggles* take care lovelies :)

Hey Chica! I'm so happy to read from you and to know that you are doing mostly well. I'm so sorry to hear about your finger. Whatever is wrong, I really hope that it feels better very soon and also that it is not something even near to serious. Mysterious injuries always bother me more than those that can be explained. I don't know why. Just call me, "infinitely paranoid" ;)
The thing with the guy at the park really frosts me. WTF is up with that -- You must consider the source [first] and IMHO you should always lodge a complaint if you are not treated well. When you don't complain you are not giving them the opportunity to make it right with you and by letting them know you could well be saving the next Aerodynamically Curv-a-licious Penguin such indignity and/or hassle.
As someone who does not write ASP, JSP, PHP, or any of the other P's -- I am really impressed at your desire to learn something new. I'm just so visuslly oriented that I never could progress beyond HTML and DHTML. Even CSS is just a little too "programish" for me because I cannot see the results of the coding immediately and just can't seem to connect to it. Like I said, I'm impressed - Very much impressed.
Congrats and ***Happy Dances*** on the weightloss. That's awesome. Deconstructing a jean skirt, in order to take it in, is not an easy task. The fabric is very heavy and the finish work could turn into a nightmare. I don't know that quilters would have the type of classes that you are looking for. Maybe you should ask at your local fabric shop. Hancock Fabrics, for instance, gives classes at all levels. I don't know if they're in your area but I think that any store like this would be a better option than a specific quilters' class.
Anyway, Sweetie. Good Luck with Everything.
I so enjoy reading from you - It really is a treat.
{{hugs}}} you
Keep on Little Penguin - Keep on.
Well, the last time I complained at GA they did nothing really. The girl that ended up coming up to me to talk to me actually made me feel even bigger. That was 2 years ago though. We didn't buy passes due to that incident. I'm thinking that it was just because the guy was an idiot. It isn't one of my fav rides so it's all good :) I do know that it is horrible to be made to feel like that. i should have just told him something right there. talking to the supervisor right after made me feel a lot better though. he said 'oh i will be giving him a talking to. that isn't right. sorry about that.'
I don't know how to do any CSS and I can do basic HTML. I've seen my hubby use DHTML and Perl and it just boggles me. I am always up to learning something new. My friend already uses PHP so I have to be familiar with it. He did see my notes on PHP when we had our meeting and said, "I just use basic PHP, I think you know more than me by now." I think I have become more open to learning programish stuff because of getting away from Windows and using Linux. I'm glad you are impressed :)
I was thinking that the skirt was going to be a bit hellish to take in. I might just end up going to the dry cleaner that does alterations. I also have a black skirt that should be taken in that isn't jean material and is a lighter weight material. I'll have to check out if there is a local Hancock Fabrics near me that has these types of sewing classes. Maybe the local Joann's would. :)
Thanks for all the good luck :):hug: :)
We've (the hubby and i) have lost weight mostly through walking a lot. Instead of driving to the grocery store we walk, same with walmart and target. Since they aren't too far from us. We also walk over to Bookbuyers in downtown Mountain View every chance we get. :) Although we aren't walking as much as before due to him working out of the house right now.
No worries about being out of the loop, I know you have been one busy girl. :) *hugs*
