Not too much has been going on. Getting used to the new cell phone. Trying to get my house to look less lived in and a little bit more organized. *giggle* The hubby has been looking into Quad Cores. Since he has been using VMs a lot the performance upgrade would help him out some. I'm all for it but he's still debating it. I feel that if it will help him then he should do it. You know? I'm really enjoying reading "Absolute Sandman" with the hubby. This is his first real reading of the comic. I'm glad he is liking it so far. We aren't too far into it. I want to take it slow so we won't feel the whole "it's over when are they going to put out the next one i want it NOW!" feeling. We got a new shredder for business from Staples. The one we had before was getting old and not really shredding too well. It is normally $299 but after coupons and rebates it comes out to $88.14. Which is awesome. I'm all for good bargains. :P I have become a bit addicted to certain webcomics. It's a cheap addiction and doesn't hurt anyone. Last weekend we rearranged some things. Now we have a bookcase in the bedroom. We also had to get an extension for it at Ikea. (It's an Ivar) The next thing I need to do is take a few pics of my Neil Gaiman shelf. I know that there are a lot more books that I should have but the ones I have mean a lot to me. The one book I would love to have is "Melinda" and the triptych that is now offered. Unfortunately, I am being good and not spending what it would take to get them. I would also love the Hill House editions of his books. Maybe someone will get "Melinda" for me. One can dream. I'm still reading Clive's "The Damnation Game" I had stopped for a bit. I don't have much left to get through it. This past weekend and two weekends ago the hubby and I did a lot of walking. In total it is about 17miles :) I need to get some walking shoes. I just need to find a place to get them. We'll see what happens. That's all for now. Take care lovelies. *hugs*
It was wonderful. We left here at about 5:45 to get to SJSU. The traffic wasn't all that bad. Unfortunately, I freaked out on Chris in the middle of Downtown San Jose. I always get freaked out when I'm not sure where to go. It makes me so nervous and I don't know why. Anyways, we found the parking garage and I had to apologize profusely to Chris before I jumped down from the inside of the truck. I felt so damned bad about it. It was okay though. We walked towards the "Events Center" building because I was going to ask the Ticketmaster guy where I needed to go because I was lost *with* a map in my hands. We saw someone buying tickets and asked where it was and he pointed us in the right direction. When we got to the building we walked in and waited for the elevator. Once we were upstairs we found the end of the line. We got seats in the front row. Which was cool. I don't like being too far. Especially when the last few days I have been having eye and ear troubles. I grabbed my camera and got ready. We had taken 3 books with us which were inside my purse/backpack. I tried to get comfy in the chairs and wait for Neil to come out.
He came out and talked a bit before starting to read. He told us that we were going to be guinea pigs because the stories he was going to read us he hadn't read before. I love being Neil's guinea pig. Both stories were great. I can't wait until they are in print and I can get them. Then after he read them he told us that the 2nd story *was* longer than he thought so they were going to have to cut the Q&A really short. Then he answered 3 questions. We found out that "Good Omens" might get made sometime. We were also told that Mr. Gilliam had rights and owed Neil a groat (a 4 pence coin) and Terry a groat. It was hillarious.
After the questions he did a signing. My hubby and I were 2nd in line. We were *all* told that there would be a 2 book minimum because Neil had to leave at 6am in the morning. We had 3 between us. The girl in front of us, while nice and all (we were sitting next to her), had way more than 2 and Neil was gracious enough to sign them all. When I had him sign my 2 books I told him I had a great time and thank you. Then he asked me if I wanted it personalized and I said, "Yes please, to Denise," and he did so. When Chris went next he told Neil how it had been his first reading and how he had a good time. Neil smiled and he inscribed it to both of us. :)
It was so nice. I had the best time. I got some pictures but I am not sure if they came out okay yet. I hope they did. Then we went out for fast food and came home. All in all, it was a great night. Now I need to get back to writing for nanowrimo. I feel like I am behind even though I am ahead. heh. Take care everyone *hugs*
...contained 2 really great things today :) not the usual junk mail and bills. today i received my Neil Gaiman tickets for his reading on the 16th and i *finally* received my cd from Voltaire. *does a happy dance* :) i can't wait to see Neil. it has been too long and going with the hubby is going to make it even better. i just hope that we can get there early enough since it is general admission. i'd like a good seat. i also hope the lighting is good so i can get a few pics :) i'm loving the sticker that came with my cd. volty unfortunately didn't sign the cd or sticker...but that is ok. one of these days i will see him again and have him sign them.
so, i need to compile a christmas list for my aunt and mom and i have no clue what to ask for. :( i could ask for books but then i would need to recompile my amazon list for the inlaws. i hate being asked what i want for christmas. or my birthday for that matter. chris is still trying to figure out what to get me for our anniversary, my birthday and christmas. i really don't know what to tell him or anyone else for that matter. i would *love* for him to get me the new penguiny they are going to have at BuildABear, but i don't know if that is going to happen. we'll see. :) honestly, i see the Neil reading as my anniversary pressie. :) it means the world to me that we are going. so, any suggestions on christmas pressies? since i'm at a loss...
been talking to one of my ex's a bit. he's going through a rough patch. i wish he wouldn't have been screwed over like he is being screwed over. he didn't deserve it at all. i just hope he will get through it ok. i know he's a grown man and can handle himself but i still worry. that goes for all of my friends, i worry. but, you guys know that. i think if i didn't worry i wouldn't really be myself. heh. it's been such a big part of my life it would be like losing a best friend.
wow, this post is going all over the place. i think i better stop before i ramble on forever. take care lovelies *hugs* :D
so i got an email from this thing for my bank that has like discounts and such. they had discounts for Ticketmaster so i put in our zip code and up pops Neil Gaiman. here in November, like right after my anniversary. so i want to go, but and it's a big *but* Neil has *NOT* mentioned this reading/thingiemagummie at **ALL** on his blog or on his site. so i don't know if i should go ahead and get the tickets or what. *sigh* i would LOVE to see him. i missed him because of being with the inlaws earlier this month. so i'm confuzzled. should i try and get in contact with him and see if that is even going to happen? or should i just wait for a bit until he mentions it? ugh. i hate not knowing and not trusting ticketbastard. you know? *sigh* off to go contemplate this.
EDIT: neil mentioned it tonight in his blog about 30 minutes after i was bitching *giggle* so i talked to chris and we purchased our tickets. we now have 2 tickets to this reading. this is the best anniversary pressie *EVAR* :) yay.
