After a lovely dinner with the hubby we sat down and watched Hellraiser: II. As we were watching he decided to pause it to call his parents. They talked for a while and he got up suddenly looking for his ebay security key fob thingiemagummieship. I wasn't sure what was going on. Then he turns to me and says, 'It's ours.' We are now the proud owners of a 'new to us' car. We pick it up on Saturday. I can not wait. I'm looking forward to being able to go to places while the hubby is at work with my own wheels. Granted I am not going to stop walking or anything like that. It will be for trips that are not within walking distance. Such as, his work. I shall put pictures up once we get it. Yay for new wheels.
Oh, before I forget. We got a 2003 Ford Crown Vic (P71, police interceptor). She's blue. :) yay!
Monday the hubby had a doc appt. I took the opportunity to go with him. When he went to get things taken care of with an x-ray i saw the vampires, erm i mean the plebotomist to have my bloodwork done. I have been putting it off since October. this is not good people. I think I was just scared to death that the results would put me back on insulin and/or pills. So after I saw the vampires we went to set up his next appointment and we had her set one up for me too. Today was my appointment.
Hubby dropped me off before he hightailed it off to work. I was a bit early but that is normal for me. I'd rather be early than late. I sat there and read the paper that was sitting there and then had the vitals taken. Blood pressure was 'great' according to the nurse. I have no clue what the normal scales are but it was: 120/72 with a pulse of 84 and a 97.5 temp. I guess that is good because she didn't seem alarmed by the numbers. Then I went back out and sat down until I was called that they had a room. Got into the room and the nurse asked about my allergies. I handed her the long list of medical allergies. Told her I kept a card and she gave me a new one to put in my wallet. Then she set up a Diabetic Eye Scan appointment for me in April. After taking off my shoes and socks I waited for the doctor.
The doctor told me that she had just sent off my test results to me electronically. So I will have to check (after I post this). We went over the labwork. My A1C is 6.9, right where we were shooting for. Which means I am to keep up with diet and exercise for my diabetes and no meds (for now). *happydance* I told her that I had been worried about my kidneys because of some pain I have been getting. She said the labwork showed that they were functioning normally. Then she checked me out for the pains I mentioned. When I told her I also had pain in another area she realized that it is "Bursitis". So, the suspected kidney/back/leg pain is Bursitis. This can be dealt with. I also mentioned I had been getting a bit short of breath and wheezing while I do my walking. She listened to me breathe for a while and said that it could be "Exercise induced Asthma" because of how I mentioned it was happening. This is also treatable. My doctor gave me the tools I need to help myself out. Then she told me to pick up my scrips (for the asthma). Then she said to pick up the 'post appointment paperwork' from the nurse and get my pneumonia shot. So I put on my shoes and did just that. All in all it went wonderfully. My kidneys are good, my diabetes is on track and I know what is causing the wheezing and pain. YAY! Only bad thing is my left arm is hurting from the shot and my right arm is still hurting from the vampires draining me the other day. lol.
So basically, I was worked up and scared for nothing. But I am glad I finally got off my tushy and went in. After the appointment I walked home. Now I am going to be off to Dittmers. Want to talk to Mark about making JaegerSchnitzel. Hopefully he is there and can help me. *crosses fingers* Don't worry, I will take my 2 puffs of meds and not overdo it. :)
Friday I get to go back to Kaiser for the hubby's next appointment. I hope his goes as well. *crosses fingers* =)
Well, that is all lovelies. Take care *huggles*
i have been trying to figure out what fountain pen to buy. i havent used a real fountain pen before. i have only used the 'calligraphy' type that you can get at a local grocery store. last time was when i was in about 5th grade. i was thinking of a waterford that i found on amazon. ive been debating because i havent had the pen in my hand. i think it would be good to use for writing out stories. i am at least hoping that it will be. if any of you have any suggestions on a good fountain pen for someone that is just beginning to use one please let me know. thank you :)
other than that, not much has been going on. been trying a few new things. hoping that i can keep up with the walking routine. i also need to learn that cooking at home is a lot better than eating out. even though we havent been eating out that much.
well, that is all for now. hope you are all doing well. take care lovelies *huggles* :)
i just got an email from the Women's Challenge. i did this last year and am going to try again this year. it is supposed to help up your daily activity and it will chart your walking. i'm hoping to do better than i did last year since we've been walking a heck of a lot more. we'll see what happens though. :)
we've been trying to do some photography lately. saturday we went to KSP (keeble and schucat in palo alto) and got a filter and a filter holder thingiemagummie. sunday we made lunch (turkey/avocado sammiches) and then took a walk through the park next to our place to take photos. since it was Easter it was packed and there was no real place to take photos. so we ended up walking over to Castro street and the park that is near our library. There were a few people there but we had lots of places to take photos. i just hope that they came out well. i'm always so critical of the photos taken. i wish i wasn't though. i think being told 'you have such a pretty face, if only you'd lose a few pounds' for years hasn't helped me. but i am slowly getting over that. once we got home we relaxed a bit and i entered the coke codes that i had. i have a funny story about one of the coke flaps i entered though. we were walking through the parking lot of the park and i saw a guy putting things into the back of his car and he had a 12 pack. i told chris to go ask for the flap and he said that i would have to do it. so i walked over to him and asked if it would be okay if he didnt save coke codes if i could have it. he gave it to me and we wished him a happy easter. so 10pts for me for asking. we also found 2 coke caps and i ended up buying a diet coke because i was thirsty on the way back. i am going to redeem some of the points for a sony gift card tonight. and then start saving for the next one. that is if coke doesn't take sony off their site. *crosses fingers that they don't* after codes were entered we made dinner. we were going to dye eggs but i had such a headache that we decided against it. now we are waiting for the cake to cool down :) that is enough for now as i'm sure i'm rambling again. take care, lovelies. *huggles everyone* :) have a great upcoming week.
so i was told about an instant win game from Castrol. the oil people and sponsor of my fav drag racer john force. so i thought, what the heck i'll give it a try. so last night i signed on and tried and won a tshirt. not too bad for free. apparently you can win more than 1 prize so i think im going to keep playing and try for the iPod.
other than that not too much is going on. since monday the hubby and i walked approximately (*tries to do the addition* 5+5+3+3+3...) 19 miles. not too bad. we've figured out that my hip is bugging me because of not walking so we are going to try and keep up with it. yesterday on our walk i found a coke cap and $1. so all in all yesterday was pretty good.
well that is all for now, i'm going to go read my book. take care everyone :) *hugs*
today we walked approximately 5 miles (round trip). this was after i took a few hours to actually get some work done. hopefully i will catch up again. i tend to get a few days behind and end up doing a whole catch up dance. so we walked about 5 miles today and it was fun. the starfishy and i went over to the walmart/traderjoes/game stop shopping center and then walked up to el camino and walked over to castro street. i found a book i had really been wanting. at bookbuyers. (the one in the picture, it was a recommendation from Karsten and I know it's going to be good.) they didn't have the other one but now i know where to look when we go back. i think i deserved to spend $8 on a book. *giggle*. i haven't been mood swinging so much. my body is finally getting used to the lower blood sugar levels. yay. :) on our walks (we've had more than a few lately) i have been on the lookout for coke caps. the little red caps with the codes inside of them. also on the lookout for the code flaps from the 12pks with the codes on them. i've been trying to save enough of the 'my coke rewards' points to get a PSP. i'm about halfway there. so, if any of you drink coke but don't collect the rewards please throw them my way. i'd appreciate it. i found out that the codes are going to come to the Dasani water bottles soon. (as well as a few other coke products) which will be great when we drink water on our walks. hopefully tomorrow our bean bag chair will be here. (the one i won from SDExpo West) they missed us on friday. thought it would be here today and it wasn't. hope you are all having a good week and had a good weekend. take care lovelies *huggles*
today i had one of the worst mood swings i've had in a while. i believe it was caused by my diabetes. they tell you to be prepared for them when your sugar levels fluctuate. well yesterday before bed i told the hubby (starfishy) "wow, with my sugar being low i'm suprised i didn't have a mood swing" so i guess i tempted fate with that suggestion. it wasn't a pretty one either. we were going to go walk (we couldn't decide where) and for some reason i just blew up. i hate when that happens. mostly because once i blow up i can't calm down enough to stop a panic attack from showing up too. which also happened. the hubby tried his best to calm me down but it took a while. so once i was calm enough i went back downstairs and checked my sugar levels. it went from 144 (which isn't normal but is a lot better than the 170's where i have been stuck for a few weeks) all the way up to 187. i showed chris and said 'well, i guess i was right. it started with my sugar freaking out.' then i apologized profusely for being an ass and taking things out on him. i'm sure there are ways to stop oncoming mood swings due to diabetes. i believe it is because my body isn't used to being back in the 130/140s yet. i just need it to get used to it already. once we get our new medical insurance (we are switching) i am definitely going to go in there and see if they can help me out. i just hope i don't get a doctor that will not work with me. usually if they don't want to work with you the first words out of their mouths is, "You are obese and need to be on insulin shots so we will set that up and get you into a nutritionist." They tend to believe talking to someone who can tell you 'here you need to only take in X amount of calories per day to lose weight. here's a chart. stick to it. make sure you exercise.' is going to be easy. it isn't. i've tried that. doesn't work for me. even if i stick to it religiously. like i've said a few times here, the hubby and i have cut down on portion sizes and are eating a lot more healthy than before. (cutting down on fast food and soda helped a heck of a lot) i'm doing my best to walk a lot. (at least a mile each time we go out walking) it isn't easy but i've gotten down to a weight i'm not disgusted with. (258.5 as of this morning actually, not too bad when you know ive been in the hight 300s) the only bad thing with losing weight is finding that all the clothes you own are getting too big. *giggle* i've been wondering how long i should wait to go clothes shopping since i'm kind of between sizes. (almost in an 18. actually fit in one 18 skirt but it umm showed off too much of my tummy for me to like it) ok, i think that is enough for now. take care lovelies. thanks for listening/reading about this. *hugs lots* hope you are all doing well :)
i walked away from my comp for about 30 minutes. enough time to finish making Chicken Korma with rice and naan. i had the sound up on my comp but apparently i didn't hear it beep. i come back and missed a message from someone i had been wanting to talk to. by the time i replied they were logged off. luckily they were/are using y!hell so they will get it when they get back online. i just hate when that happens. it happens more times than not. especially with people that are in different time zones. *sigh* oh well. maybe i'll talk to him sometime soonish.
walked with the hubby to costco today. we had to get replacement brushes for our toothbrush thingiemagummy. they had tons of sample people there. i missed the Bailey's girl though. i know it wasn't an alcoholic sample but still it would have been yummy. we also went to Cost Plus for fondue fuel. i know one thing, i need to walk a heck of a lot more. we slowed it up a bit and well my legs can feel it still. it will get changed. i need to lose more poundage rather than gain it all back. still under the weight i thought i was, so this is good. but still have a ways to go.
take care lovelies. *gives huggles* i'm off to get things ready for tomorrows LUG. like the cameras. and *maybe* the old apple laptop.
the weather looked just fine before we left. it isn't unlike the hubby and i to walk wherever we need to go. so we left and it was cloudy and i grabbed a 'mini umbrella' just in case. walked off to the local wal*mart and the other shops in the center off of showers. stopped at DQ to get Blizzards because i had a BOGO coupon for my birthday. stopped at Radio Shack for no real reason and then went on to Wal*Mart. looked around for a little bit and took a phone call on the cell. i hate doing that but i hadn't talked to her in a few weeks and wanted to make sure she was okay. she was :) yay. ended up getting what we needed and decided to leave. walk towards the stop light where we need to turn and it starts raining. a light misting at first. so i'm thinking, 'ok, not bad, i can walk in this.' just as i finish my thought the mist turns into a heavier drizzle so the hubby pulls the umbrella out of his pocket and hands it over. he luckily had on his jacket with a hood. the rain slowed me down some. i'm already unstable enough without water on the ground. hehe. the hubby was way ahead of me but i didn't let that stop me. got home and realized we were without what we needed to make dinner. so back out again. also got a bit more groceries while we were at it. now we have stuff for tonight and tomorrow. not too bad actually. got my exercise too. now if only my hip wouldn't feel like someone stuck a hot poker into it. guess it just shows my age. :P *giggle* oh, and i did end up drawing what i needed to draw. now i just need to edit it in the gimp. i'm thinking it will look better with editing. :) hopefully it will anyways. heh. well, i'm off to make dinner. yes, i know i know, it's late and we should have eaten earlier but i got lazy. take care lovelies :) *huggles*
